This issue has taken a slightly different turn to what I originally expected. We have remained with the Scandinavian theme: Heinrich Christensen offers a brief introduction to the subject and Hans Fagius takes a more in-depth look at Romantic Swedish music, whilst Anna Harwell Celenza focusses specifically on the life and music of Niels W. Gade and Arnfinn Tobiassen writes an excellent You Can Plaj This article. However, aside from the Scandinavian ‘theme’, S. Duckett has written an article about The Blenheim Palace organs, both the Willis and the Postill — the photography is excellent. Also, Andrew Kirk looks at life in a successful parish church and Karen O’Connor & Daniel Moult have written an article which should be compelling reading for all performers, amateur and professional alike — how to improve your performance, or as they term it ‘combatting musical performance anxiety’ a well-known feeling to everyone out there.

Although Iceland is not mentioned elsewhere in this issue, the cover is the Klais instrument in Reykjavik. The musical pull-out has been written by Fredrik Sixten.
